Daily inspections are the foundation for ensuring the proper functioning of Perkins diesel engines, and require operators to be attentive and patient. Before starting work every day, the oil level should be checked first. Engine oil is like the blood of a diesel engine, providing lubrication, cooling, and cleaning to various components. When checking, the forklift should be parked on a flat surface. After the engine stops running for 10-15 minutes, remove the dipstick, wipe it clean with a clean cloth, and then insert it. Then remove it to check if the oil level is between the upper and lower limits of the dipstick. If the liquid level is too low, oil that meets the requirements of Perkins diesel engines should be added, such as common SAE10W -, APISG/SH grade or above oil. At the same time, observe the color and texture of the engine oil. Normal engine oil should be clear brown or golden yellow. If the engine oil turns black, thick, or has an odor, it indicates that the engine oil has deteriorated and needs further inspection or replacement.

Checking the coolant is also crucial. The coolant can absorb the heat generated by the engine during operation, preventing the engine from overheating. When checking the coolant level, it should be done after the engine has cooled down. Check the level mark on the expansion tank, and the liquid level should be between the highest and lowest marks. If the liquid level is too low, it is necessary to add coolant of the same model as the original car coolant. Do not add coolant of different brands or models at will to avoid chemical reactions that may affect the cooling effect. At the same time, check whether there are any leaks in the cooling system, observe whether there are traces of coolant leakage in the water tank, water pipes, water pumps, and other parts. If there are leaks, promptly identify the cause and repair them.

The air filter is responsible for filtering the air entering the engine, preventing dust, impurities, etc. from entering the cylinder, and reducing the wear of components such as the cylinder and piston. When checking the air filter every day, you can check whether the filter housing is damaged, whether the filter element is clogged or dirty. If there is a lot of dust on the surface of the filter element, compressed air can be used to blow it out from the inside out. Note that the pressure of the compressed air should not be too high to avoid damaging the filter element. If the filter element is severely clogged or damaged, it needs to be replaced with a new one in a timely manner. In addition, it is necessary to check whether the connection between the air filter and the intake pipe is firm to ensure smooth intake.

Regular maintenance is the key to extending the service life of Perkins diesel engines, and it needs to be carried out according to strict time nodes and standardized operating procedures. Generally speaking, the oil and oil filter need to be replaced every 500 hours of operation or 6 months (whichever comes first). When changing the engine oil, start the engine and let it idle for 5-10 minutes to increase the oil temperature and improve its fluidity, which can ensure that the old oil is discharged more thoroughly. Then, use a suitable wrench to loosen the oil collection groove drain plug, transfer the old engine oil into a dedicated container, and after draining, check whether the O-ring of the drain plug is intact. If there are cracks or deformations, they need to be replaced synchronously. Next, wipe the oil drain and surrounding area with a clean cloth, install a new oil filter, and tighten it to the specified torque. Finally, slowly inject new engine oil through the funnel from the filling port until the center line of the upper and lower markings on the dipstick is slightly above. Start the engine and idle for 2 minutes, then stop for 5 minutes and check the oil level again. If necessary, replenish the oil.
